How to add order bumps and post-purchase upsells to Lemon Squeezy

Use Swipefast to add an order bump before payment and a prefilled post-purchase offer after a one-time Lemon Squeezy checkout.

Lemon Squeezy is good at the payment job: hosted checkout, tax, buyer receipts, and merchant-of-record work. Its standard checkout does not give a seller a native order bump and a reusable one-click post-purchase charge. Swipefast adds those selling moments around Lemon without pretending the payment rules are different.

How the buyer moves through it

  • The buyer opens your Swipefast page and chooses the main offer.
  • They can tick an order bump before paying.
  • Swipefast calculates the price on the server and opens Lemon Squeezy with that total.
  • After Lemon confirms payment, Swipefast shows the optional post-purchase offer.
  • If they take it, a second Lemon checkout opens with their contact details prefilled.

The first order is already safe when the second offer appears. Declining the upsell takes the buyer straight to the Swipefast receipt and delivery screen. Accepting it does not change or risk the first purchase.

Set it up in Swipefast

  • Open Integrations and connect Lemon Squeezy with its API key.
  • In Lemon Squeezy, create and publish the one-time product variant you want Swipefast to use.
  • Open your Swipefast checkout, choose Payment, then map that Lemon variant.
  • Add an order bump in the Checkout step and give it a price and delivery link.
  • Add the post-purchase offer in the Upsell step, including its delivery link and any optional HTML pitch.
  • Publish, then run the full route in Lemon test mode before sharing the link.

Why the upsell is a second payment

A true one-click upsell needs permission to reuse the payment method from the first order. Stripe can support that kind of held or reusable payment flow. Lemon Squeezy's public checkout API creates a new hosted checkout and does not give Swipefast a general card token to charge again.

Swipefast therefore uses the honest route. It prefills what Lemon permits, keeps the second checkout short, and tells the buyer that it is a separate payment. Lemon produces the provider receipt for each payment. Swipefast links both payments to the same buyer journey in the seller dashboard.

A note about subscriptions

Swipefast does not show one-time bumps or post-purchase offers on a Lemon Squeezy subscription checkout. Lemon's custom checkout price becomes the renewal price for that subscription. Folding a one-time extra into it could make the buyer pay for that extra again at every renewal.

For a subscription, create the intended subscription variant in Lemon Squeezy and map it directly. If the checkout must include a one-time bump or a same-charge post-purchase offer, use the Stripe and PayPal route for that product.

Test these before sending traffic

  • Buy the main product without ticking the bump and check the amount in both systems.
  • Buy again with the bump and confirm the combined first payment is correct.
  • Accept the post-purchase offer and confirm that the second Lemon checkout is prefilled.
  • Decline the offer and confirm that the original receipt and access link still appear.
  • Refund the second payment and confirm the main order remains paid.
  • Check every delivery link from a private browser window.
FAQ

Questions people ask before choosing

Does Lemon Squeezy support an order bump through Swipefast?

Yes, for a one-time product. Swipefast prices the main product and selected bump on the server, then opens one Lemon Squeezy checkout for that combined amount.

Is the Lemon Squeezy upsell truly one-click?

No. Lemon Squeezy does not give Swipefast a reusable card token for a general second charge. The buyer gets a separate secure checkout with their name and email prefilled.

Can I add a one-time bump to a Lemon Squeezy subscription?

No. Swipefast hides it because a custom subscription price can repeat on renewal. Use a purpose-built Lemon subscription variant, or use Stripe and PayPal for a funnel that needs one-time extras.

Who handles tax and payment receipts?

Lemon Squeezy handles tax and its provider receipt for each Lemon payment. Swipefast records the products, delivery links, attribution, and linked buyer journey.
